Simpson Story on Zhouqu Mudslide Relief Work

发布时间:2010-08-16

On August 7th, 2010, at about 10pm, A severe mudslide occurred in Zhouqu County, Gannan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, China, caused by heavy rainfall and flood.  The buildup of river water and debris behind the dam eventually blocked a small river upstream to the north of the city of Zhugqu.  The dam clapped in the end and flushed out about 7,500,000 cubic meters of mud and rocks swiping through the town downstream. The mudslide created a flat muddy area, 5 km long by 300m wide in average, 5m high.

Simpson immediately sent the power equipments and technicians to the disaster area soon after the mudslide. The technicians on site encountered the challenges of both power and water shortages to do the repairing jobs.  Through their great effort, they ensured the normal operation of the emergency generators for the system and made positive contributions to the preliminary success of the emergency communication recovery in the area.
